France is mobilising 10,000 troops to provide protection in the country’s most sensitive areas following the terror attacks last week.

The move comes after the French cabinet held a crisis meeting on security in the wake of two terror attacks last week that left 17 people dead at satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and at a kosher supermarket in Paris.

The three attackers, brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi and Amedy Coulibaly were all killed in the police operations to free hostages on Friday.

Thousands of police officers have also been deployed to protect Jewish schools, which are under particular threat from Islamic extremism.
