Tourists from the UK, France, Hong Kong, and Japan are believed to be amongst the 19 killed in a hot air balloon crash near Luxor in Egypt.
The balloon is reported to have been flying at an altitude of around 300m when it caught fire and then the gas cannister exploded, bringing it down into nearby fields. Some eye-witness accounts describe people jumping form the flaming balloon from the hight of a seven story building.
The balloon ride was one of a number of similar air balloon trips that tourists take around Luxor to see the pharaonic ruins from the air such as the Valley of the Kings and Karnak.
Two people, including the balloon’s pilot, are reported to have survived the crash.
