CAR: Cannibal eats man’s leg in revenge attack

A man from the Central African Republic (CAR) has reportedly eaten another man’s leg in a “revenge attack” for the murder of his family.

Ouandja Magloire, who calls himself “Mad Dog”, was part of a Christian mob who attacked a Muslim man in the CAR capital of Bengui.

Explaining his reason for the attack, the man explained to the BBC that he was angry because some Muslims had killed his pregnant wife, sister-in-law, and baby during the ongoing troubles within the CAR. He saw the alleged killer on a bus and followed him along with around 20 youths who forced the bus to stop and dragged the man onto the street.

The gang then reportedly beat and stabbed the man before setting him on fire, before Mad Dog began to eat the flesh of his leg as witnesses looked on.

Whilst acts of cannibalism are rare in the ongoing religious conflict in the CAR which has claimed more than 1000 lives in the last month, many of the Christian fighters believe in magic and mysticism, and wear jewels and clothing to make themselves “invincible” against both knives and bullets.
