A teenage bodyboarder has been killed in a shark attack in Australia, the second death from an attack in November.

Zac Young, 18, died from severe leg injuries after being bitten by a suspected bull shark at Campbell’s Beach, New South Wales.

Young was reported to have been bodyboarding with friends at a popular spot called The Well when he was attacked, sustaining serious injuries to both legs. He was sitting upright on his board when the shark attacked according to police.

He then struggled to free himself from the grip of the shark, with Police spokesperson Joanne Reid saying:

“He managed to struggle with the shark for a short time. The shark has let go”

Young then bravely made his way back to the beach where he was treated by paramedics, but by this time he had lost too much blood and suffered a traumatic cardiac arrest.

Young’s death comes only a week after Chris Boyd, 35, was killed in a shark attack while surfing near Gracetown, south of Perth.
