An inquest has heard how a reveller at the BoomTown music festival was found hanged in a toilet.

31-year-old Lisa Williamson was rushed to Winchester hospital after another festival-goer discovered her hanging in a toilet at around 13:50 on Saturday. Doctors battled to save her life, but she died shortly after arrival.

Investigators cordoned off the toilet block as they investigated the scene at the festival site at Matterley Estate, but her death was not treated as suspicious.

The inquest heard that her cause of death was hanging.

In a statement on the tragedy, BoomTown festival said:

“BoomTown would like to express our sincerest condolences to the family of the young woman who was found unconscious onsite but despite the immediate response and efforts of all our staff involved she was later pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Winchester hospital. Our thoughts are with all her loved ones at this tragic time and the festival is doing all it can to assist those involved.”

The death comes a year after 18-year-old Ellie Rowe died after taking the drug ketamine at the festival.
