Three men have admitted to spying on West Ham United during the bidding process for the Olympic Stadium.
The corporate espionage was carried out by Richard Forrest, Lee Stewart and Howard Hill, who all admitted to illegally obtaining confidential and personal information from the football club and Olympic Park Legacy Company.
The men were arrested after accusations were made that West Ham rival football club Tottenham Hotspur were spying on Olympic officials – a claim they deny.
After originally denying the charges at Southwark Crown Court, the men admitted to obtaining personal data contrary to the Data Protection Act 1998 at Inner London Crown Court today.
The men will be sentenced on 20th December
West Ham were awarded sole use of the Olympic Stadium after the 2012 games, beating off rival bids from Tottenham Hotspur andLeyton Orient.
