The price of milk has been cut to 24p a pint by Morrisons as a supermarket price war has seen prices slashed.

Tesco first announced that it was cutting the price of a four-pint carton of milk by nearly 30% to £1 in an attempt to drive up sales on 3 March. Sainsbury’s matched this promotion on 5 March, with the Co-operative and Waitrose soon slashing their prices as well.

Now Morrisons has joined the fray by dropping the price of a two litre carton of its own brand Meadow Park milk to 84p, which works out at just less than 24p per pint.

The milk price war has worried dairy farmers across the country, who already have very tight margins on their produce, but Morrisons has said that the price cut will be funded by the supermarket and not passed on to their farmers.

    Hi,
Supermarket price war sees pint of milk cut to 24p. It’s interesting the development, the Germans supermarkets are pulling there muscle with Lidl and ALDI all over Europe, in Holland they have contributed to quality and competition.
