The teenagers who snuck away from boarding school for a romantic weekend away in the Caribbean have been found safe and sound in the Dominican Republic.
Edward Bunyan and Indira Gainiyeva slipped away from the £30,000 per year Stonyhurst College in the dead of night, before getting a taxi to Manchester airport and flying away together.
The pair told their friends of their plan before leaving last week, and have now been tracked down to a hotel on the Dominican Republic.
Arrangements are now being made for the pair to fly back to the UK.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said:
“The students have thankfully been located safe and well at a hotel in the Punta Cana area of the Dominican Republic
Plans are now being made for their safe return to the UK. They will be given a welfare de-brief by police following their arrival back in this country.
Our priority throughout this has been to ensure the safety and welfare of these students and after they have been spoken to on their return this will signal an end of police involvement in this matter.”
