A Liverpool street has been sealed off by Merseyside Police amid reports of a shooting and armed siege.
Police were called to the scene of the incident at Shellingford Road, Dovecot after reports of a shooting, with the Liverpool Echo reporting that one neighbour heard more than 10 gunshots in around 40 minutes.
Police are reported to have surrounded the house, and witness report seeing a man being evacuated to hospital by ambulance. A “non-fatal police shooting” has been confirmed by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), who have dispatched investigators to the scene.
Contrary to earlier reports, the police have confirmed that no officers were injured during the incident.
Forensic investigators are currently at the location.
One neighbour said on Twitter that she was awoken to find the siege situation unfolding on her street:
