A criminal gang who impersonated police officers to rob tourists on the streets of Edinburgh have been arrested by police.
Police Scotland said that there were 19 reports of similar thefts in the capital over the last month, with thieves claiming to be police officers and asking to search tourists’ bags before stealing the contents.
According to Herald Scotland, police officers investigating the robberies seized over £5,000 worth of foreign currency and a number of pieces of designer clothing from a property at Murdoch Terrace.
Police have arrested six men aged between 25 and 44 and one 26-year-old woman over the thefts, and have thanked members of the public for their help in identifying those involved.
