Police have arrested seven suspects in relation to the Hatton Garden safety deposit raid over the Easter weekend.

At approximately 10:30 BST more than 200 officers raided twelve addresses in north London and Kent and arrested seven men aged between 48 and 75.

Searches of the properties continue, but police have already recovered a number of large bags containing significant amounts of high value property from one address, and officers are described as being “confident these are items stolen during the burglary”.

Officers from Scotland Yard’s Flying Squad have been working around the clock to track those responsible for the last six weeks to ensure that the box owners and small businesses affected by the raid can get justice.

Police have admitted that their procedures for working with alarm monitoring companies were not followed during the raid, and as a result officers did not attend the scene during the raid. However, a security guard was notified and attended the building, but saw no breach of the building, because the theives accessed the security boxes by drilling through the lift shaft.
