The Royal Navy have dispatched a destroyer to track the movements of a Russian aircraft carrier as it travels through the English Channel.
HMS Dragon, a Type 45 destroyer, which last month intercepted Russian a Russian ship in international water north of Scotland, was activated yesterday to meet the Admiral Kuznetsov task force, a MoD spokesperson told Reuters.
The Admiral Flota Sovetskovo Soyuza Kuznetsov is the flagship of the Russian Navy, capable of carrying 14 Su-33 fixed-wing fighters and 17 helicopters.
The Russian Navy has said the the vessel is returning to its base at Severomorsk in north-west Russia after completing its deployment in the Mediterranean.
