Chart-topping rapper Professor Green has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice over claims he was mugged near his home.
Stephen Paul Manderson, 30, had called police to report the theft of his Rolex watch from outside his house in Lewisham, south London. However, when officers arrived on the scene they arrested Manderson on suspicion of drink-driving after they noticed that he had been involved in a car crash with a van. There were no reported injuries of the accident.
The rapper was bailed, but when he returned to a south-east London police station to report for bail on Monday he was arrested for attempting to pervert the course of London.
Manderson has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
