Nine people have been arrested following a Facebook-organised illegal rave in East Croydon, which attracted more than 1,000 revellers.
Police were alerted to the party at an unused mail sorting office after a routine patrol spotted streams of people heading towards the venue at around 21:40 on Saturday night.
Additional officers were called to the scene, and cordons set up around the venue to prevent more people from attending the rave.
Some party-goers objected to the police presence and threw objects such as chairs and fire extinguishers at the police officers, according to the Croydon Advertiser.
Police monitored the venue throughout the night, and finally entering the building at 08:30 Sunday morning to collect evidence.
Nine people were arrested for offences related to drugs, violent disorder, and money laundering, with more arrested expected.
