The mother of the missing three-year-old Mikaeel Kular has reportedly been detained by police after a child’s body was discovered in Fife.
Police officers found a body of a young boy in Fife after a wide ranging and fast moving investigation since the boy was reported missing on Thursday morning, after a “fantastic response from the public” said Assistant Chief Constable Malcolm Graham.
Forensic tests are still needed to be carried out, but Graham said that the police “strongly believe” the body discovered to be that of Mikaeel Kular.
Police have not released the address where the body was found, but Mikaeel’s family reportedly lived in Kircaldy in Fife before moving to their flat in Ferry Gait Crescent.
Rosdeep Kular, 33, has reportedly been detained for questioning about the death of her son.
Denise Fergus, the mother of James Bulger, the two-year-old who was murdered in Liverpool in 1993, tweeted her condolences over the death of Mikaeel Kular, saying:
“My heart is aching for that poor boy Mikaeel Kular brings it all back so sad.”
