A team of forensic scientists are reported to be travelling to Portugal to excavate three sites near to the Praia da Luz resort where the family were staying when Madeleine disappeared on 3 May 2007, according to a report in the Mirror

Police have said they will not comment on the ongoing enquiry, but the Portuguese police have reopened their investigation in to her disappearance after new leads emerged last year.

While the McCann family are still hopeful that Madeleine will be found alive, they are prepared for the possible outcome of these police searches – a body.
