London attack: Islamic State claims responsibility for London Bridge terror attack

The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the terror attack at London Bridge on Saturday, which left seven people dead and 48 more injured.

The SITE Intel Group reports that Islamic State (also known as ISIS, ISIL, and IS) claimed its fighters carried out the attack in a statement published by the official Amaq News Agency.

The use of a rented van and kitchen knives in the attack followed guidance published by IS last month, which called for jihadis in Western states to use low-tech tools such as knives and vehicles in attacks, as acquiring guns and explosives would provide clues about an attack to security services.

The pro-Islamic State (IS) but unofficial Nashir News Agency has called for further revenge attacks against Western states involved in the coalition to destroy IS in Iraq and Syria.

Meanwhile, police have arrested 12 people, including seven women, in a raid on the flat owned by one of the attackers in Barking, east London.
