A fire has broken out on a cross-Channel ferry en route from Dover to Calais.
The blaze started in the engine room of P&O’s Pride of Cantebury ferry as it came into port at Calais, northern France at 08:40 on Monday morning.
Passengers reported seeing thick smoke billowing from the starboard side of the ferry, and the crew announced that there was an issue with the starboard engine.
All 337 passengers and 119 crew members safely disembarked from the vessel as French police shut off the dock and firefighters began to tackle the blaze.
P&O has cancelled the 09:50 Calais to Dover and 11:10 Dover to Calais ferry crossings as they asses the damage and investigate the cause of the fire.
