A motorist who tweeted “bloody cyclists” on Twitter just hours after knocking a cyclist off his bike has been found guilty of failing to stop after a collision and failing to report an accident.
Emma Way’s collision with a cyclist was only made known to the police on 19th May when Way tweeted with the hashtag #bloodycyclists, saying:
“Definitely knocked a cyclist off his bike earlier. I have right of way – he doesn’t even pay road tax!”
She described the tweet as her “biggest regret” after she was found guilty of failing to report an accident and failing to stop after an accident with seven points added to her license and required to pay £637 and at Norwich Magistrates Court. Way was also cleared of driving without due care and attention.
Infamy on Twitter has resulted in Way quitting the social networking site soon after the #bloodycyclists tweet.
