The disused Brompton Road tube station that once served as an underground command centre during World War II has been sold to an anonymous buyer for £53 million.

The former London Underground Station was only in use between 1906 and 1934 before it was closed for not being financially viable. It then housed a Ministry of Defence (MoD) command centre during the Blitz as it was deep enough to avoid the threats of Nazi bombing raids above.

However, it has been largely abandoned since 1945, and the MoD put the 2,600 square metre up for sale in September, and the piece of London history has now been purchased by an anonymous buyer who intends to develop the site.
