While Harrogate won the title of the happiest location to live in the UK, those living in London and the south east were found to be the least happy.

All of the 10 least happy places to live in the UK are in London according to the Rightmove Happy at Home Index, which asked nearly 50,000 people to rate their local area on 12 distinct factors which are then combined to describe the ‘overall’ happiness of more than 100 places across the country.

East London won the dubious honour of being the unhappiest place to live, where residents complained of a lack of neighbourliness and and unimpressed by the decoration of their homes.
