A 10-year-old boy has died after sustaining serious head injuries in an “incident involving store furniture” at a Topshop store in Reading.

The boy was rushed to the Royal Berkshire Hospital after the incident occurred at around 16:15 GMT at the Topshop store in the Oracle Shopping Centre, Reading. The boy later died of his injuries.

It is reported that the boy pulled on some type of barrier in the store, which crashed down on top of him.

Thames Valley Police say his death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious, and enquiries will continue.

The boy’s next of kin had been informed and it is believed the death will be referred to the Health and Safety Executive
