A plane has crashed at Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), officials say.

The US-Bangla flight from Dhaka (DAC) to Kathmandu veered off the runway during landing at 14:20 local time (08:35 GMT) on Monday.

Photos published on social media show firefighters and people dressed in military fatigues tackling the crash fire and rescuing passengers.

About 67 passengers are believed to have been on board the plane, and authorities say 17 people have been rescued so far.

The aircraft has been identified by local media as S2-AGU, a Bombardier Dash 8 Q400, which was built in 2001 and previously operated by Scandinavian Airlines, Royal Jordanian, and Augsburg Airways before being put into service by the Bangladeshi airline US-Bangla.
