Popular television presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan have revealed that they have agreed to an assisted suicide pact.

The pair told the Daily Telegraph that if one of them was to fall seriously ill with a terminal condition, then the other would assist them in committing suicide.

They said that they would carry out their “pledge” despite the possibility of prosecution under the law, as Madeley commented:

“I wouldn’t give a tuppenny if there was a risk of being prosecuted. I’d do what was right for my wife”

Assisted suicide, like euthanasia remains illegal in the UK, as stated on the NHS website where it says:

Assisted suicide is illegal under the terms of the Suicide Act (1961) and is punishable by up to 14 years’ imprisonment.
