Rik Mayall’s ‘lost’ 2010 World Cup single ‘Noble England’ is heading for a top 10 place in the official UK single’s chart.

The track is currently challenging Ella Henderson’s ‘Ghost’ in the race to become this week’s number 1 single.

The sales are a result of a fan-led campaign in memory of the much-loved comedian and actor who passed away on Monday at the age of 56.

The fan-led campaign to get the comedy star’s 2010 single to number 1 comes after the actor passed away on Monday (June 9).

Official Charts Company Chief Executive, Martin Talbot, said:

“Rik Mayall’s death this week was a shock to a whole generation of comedy fans – and their reaction in pushing his 2010 single is a reflection of how much he was loved”
