Last week Shannon Hope released her self-titled EP, and it is a keeper we promise.
In the late 00s she was one half of boy-girl riot-punkrrrs Glory Glory, they briefly blazed a drunken, mischievous trail across the UK’s DIY scene before imploding in a hungover haze.
Relocating to her Suffolk hometown, Shannon quickly fell back into the local scene as drummer and vocalist for Fugazi-esque punk outfit Rats As Big As Dogs and Horse Party. But away from the roar and squeal of toilet venue speakers, Shannon began writing again and, inspired by longtime heroes Cat Power andBjork, the six songs which would form her debut EP slowly took shape.
The result is a record of stripped back acoustics and fleeting ephemeral beauty, often delicate and gentle, but at times possessing power and impact as well. As such it is a debut solo release that shows great promise.

Not only that, but on 15th April, the first single by indie-blues trio Horse Party, titled Back To Mono, hits the streets. Also featuring Shannon as part of this three-piece it follows the free download of Clarion Call back in December and is also well worth some ear-time.
