Olympic Swimmers

The Celtic lilt of singer Susie Smillie transformsOlympic Swimmers’ lead single “Knots” from a charged, admittedly interesting lesson in guitars and bass into something made for the ears of Gods.

Based in Glasgow, the five-piece have toured with a succession of Scottish greats, amongst them Idlewild and Admiral Fallow, as well as sharing stage space with various members of The Delgados. With band ties creating as good an impression as any, theirs is the kind of music to blow away cobwebs and threaten an appearance at T in the Park. They certainly won’t be appearing on a Domino compilation anytime soon, though bassist Graeme Smillie did tour with label signees Sons & Daughters in 2011 to cover Ailidh Lennon while she was on maternity leave. So you never know.

“Knots” is taken from Olympic Swimmers’ debut album No Flags Will Fly, which was released earlier in the summer. The single is due out on 17th September through Green White Violet.
