Cuushe - I Love You

In my head, pop music heralding from Japan (J-Pop) has always sat somewhere near to K-Pop in cutesy, infantilising oddness. There are plenty of great Japanese bands and producers out there, but the pop scene has always been somewhat of a mystery to me. And then came Cuushe.

Maybe it’s her Berlin influences, or maybe she just writes such perfect, bliss-filled electronica that all geography dissolves beside her. Whatever it is, I Love You from her upcoming and yet-to-be-named debut record due for release on Tokyo-based Flau on July 8th is a delight of luxurious textures and upbeat grooves.

Cuushe will be playing the Flau label showcase at Café OTO in London on April 15th with aus, Dale Berning and James Blackshaw (DJ).
