The future of popular Scottish music festival T in the Park looks uncertain due to a “potentially dangerous oil pipeline” that runs beneath part of the festival site.

The health and Safety Executive have said that they do not want the festival to continue at its current site in Balado because of its location atop the Forties Pipeline, which carries North Sea oil to Grangemouth. However, they have agreed not to refer their objections to Scottish ministers as long as the festival moves to another site in 2015.

The company behind the festival, DF Concerts, have applied for a year’s extension for the festival’s current site, but hope to redesign the festival layout to avoid any issues. If this is not possible, then they may be forced to move the festival to another location.
