Banks and Marika Hackman are joint winners of the Blog Sound of 2014 poll, picked by 59 of the UK’s finest music bloggers. This is the first time the poll has had joint winners, with both artists receiving exactly the same number of votes.
Banks
Banks made a name for herself in 2013 with her perfectly produced sultry R&B, featuring coming 3rd on the BBC Sound of 2014 poll, and being the 9th most blogged about artists by British music bloggers.
Marika Hackman
Marika Hackman has a contrasting style to Banks, with her strepped back haunting, ethereal tunes that makes her so much more than the folk badge many ascribe to her. She was the 8th most blogged artist by British music bloggers in 2013, but did not make the BBC’s list.
