The North Yorkshire spa town of Harrogate has won the title of “happiest place to live in Britain”, according to a new survey.
This is the second year in a row that Harrogate has won the title in the Rightmove Happy at Home Index, which asked nearly 50,000 people to rate their local area on 12 distinct factors which are then combined to describe the ‘overall’ happiness of more than 100 places across the country.
As well as coming top overall, Harrogate wo the top spot for neighbourliness and recreation, while Kirkcaldy came top for space, Nottingham won for value, and Preston is number one for pride.
Most interestingly, the survey found that those living in the north or west of the UK were happier with their surroundings than those living in London where all of the 10 least happiest places to live were located.
