Canadian police have rescued 40 ball pythons from a motel room, where their owner had been keeping them in plastic tupperwares.
The snakes were found at Bell City Motel in Brantford, in Ontario, and were 1 – 4.5 feet in length. Seeing the condition of the snakes, the police called the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), but a vet’s examination found that the animals will likely regain their strength.
In a statement local police said:
“The snakes were not being suitably cared for and were in distress. The anxious officers called the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals who attended and took 40 pythons into their care”
A staff member at the hotel said that they thought the snakes belonged to a couple who had checked out the previous day.
