An emu has been filmed running alongside the cars on a motorway in the Israeli coastal town of Herzliya.

The giant bird is believed to have escaped from a local farm, and was estimated to have been zigzagging through traffic at an estimated speed of around 25mph.

The video was captured on Sunday by 27-year-old video artist Iliya Zelser, who later described the sight as “absurd”.

The emu was eventually caught after it was steered off the road and onto some grassland near a local shopping centre by a man on a scooter. The bird was then returned to its owner, apparently unfazed by its escapade on the roads.
