A man has been shot dead by police at a house in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

Police were called to a property in Duck Lane, St Neots, at 19:45 BST on Wednesday after reports of a man acting dangerously and concerns about the safety of residents.

The man was shot by police officers at around 20:00 BST and died from his wounds at the scene.

No one else was injured in the incident.

A cordon has been set up around the property while the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) carries out its investigation.

In a statement, the IPCC said:

“The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating the fatal shooting of a man by police in Cambridgeshire.

“The man, believed to be in his 40s, was shot by a firearms officer at a property in Duck Lane, St Neots, at around 8pm yesterday (Wednesday 21 October).

“Following the referral from Cambridgeshire police, the IPCC declared an independent investigation at approximately 9.30pm and investigators were immediately deployed to the scene. The man’s next of kin have been informed of his death and the area will remain cordoned off for some time whilst IPCC investigators undertake the scene management process.”
