British engineers Mike Dobson and David Gilday have demonstrated the power of modern smartphones by creating a robot that can break the world record for solving a Rubik’s Cube, which is powered by a Samsung Galaxy S4

The Cubestormer 3 uses the smartphone’s camera to see the current state of the Rubik’s Cube, and then the octa-core Exynos CPU analyses this information, and passes instructions on how to solve it to eight Lego Mindstorms EV3 bricks, which are also controlled by an ARM-processor. And it manages to do all of this in just 3.253 seconds.
