French state rail company spent £12.1bn on 2,000 trains too wide for its stations
French rail operators will have to spend millions of euros to adjust 1,300 train station platforms to fit the 2,000 new trains ordered to upgrade the regional network after it emerged that they are too wide to pass through hundreds of stations across the country.
