The Prison Service is considering introducing a smoking ban across all areas of prisons in England and Wales by 2015.
Five years ago you’d probably never heard of electronic cigarettes, or e-cigarettes. Now it seems you can’t open a newspaper – or go into a newsagent, supermarket or pharmacist – without seeing them advertised or on sale.
Around 97 full-time lobbyists defend the interests of the tobacco industry in Brussels, and the industry’s total annual lobbying budget in the EU capital exceeds €5.3 million, according to entries in the EU’s voluntary Transparency Register and conservative estimates. But these figures are only the tip of the iceberg.
