As the conflict draws on in Syria, many women and children are facing the harsh winter with little food or warm clothing in refugee camps. We hear the story of one such pregnant woman, Ayesha.
Nearly a year and a half after the start of the Syrian uprising, tens of thousands of people have fled the country. Until recently, most found shelter in homes with friends, relatives and even strangers. But as the numbers increase, several neighbouring countries are opening new camps to accommodate them.
On 13-14 July, 2012 mass demonstrations erupted in the Palestinian Refugee Camp Yarmouk and Tadamon in Damascus. The Syrian regime’s brutal response led to seven deaths on July 13. The next day their funeral processions brought an even larger protest out, where four more people were killed.
