Online pornography is to be blocked across the UK unless people actively choose to receive it, Prime Minister David Cameron is to announce.
Sky, Virgin Media, and Talk Talk are preparing to block internet pornography for their subscribers in a bid to make youngsters “safer” online.
The signals are very worrying. Already there were troubling trends in this country: website blocking used frequently and abusively; excessive fines on media outlets; journalists imprisoned.
Several reports indicate that the Iranian regime has taken another step to control the already heavily censored Internet. According to an ITIran report [fa], the circumvention software Psiphon, as well as Kerio and Open VPN, are no longer effective against the Iranian state’s efforts to block websites and internet speeds have fallen sharply.
