UKIP leader Nigel Farage has been hit by an egg during as he got out of his car during a visit to Nottingham.

Farage was visiting Nottingham to rally support for his East Midlands candidates for the European elections, when he was hit by an egg in the city centre.

The egg was thrown by a 33-year-old protester called “Fred”, who was holding a sign which read:

UKIP…sad, scared, old men

The protester was quickly arrested on suspicion of assault over the incident.
