Nigel Farage's #WhyImVotingUKIP Twitter hashtag promptly backfires

UKIP may have thought they would be riding a wave of support from the public when they launched the Twitter hashtag #WhyImVotingUKIP, but the ever sarcastic British Twitterati were quick to mock the campaign.

Looking to give UKIP’s profile one last push before the European elections tomorrow, last night candidate Donna Edmunds tweeted why she supported the party along with the hashtag #WhyImVotingUKIP.

#WhyImVotingUkip – Ukip is the ONLY party which wants to see Britain out of the EU, trading with the world again.

The hashtag quickly took off on the social media site with other UKIP candidates, councillors, and supports chiming in with why they support Nigel Farage’s party.

However, it was not long before those rather less supportive of what they see as UKIP’s almost comical fear of Europe, racism, homophobia…
