An Indonesian Premier League footballer has died after suffering a terrible tackle by a goalkeeper during a game.
Persiraja striker Akli Fairuz died in hospital last week, following a tackle by PSAP Sigli goalkeeper Agus Rahman where footage shows he was struck by a boot to the abdomen.
Fairuz was substituted after the foul, but did not appear to be in any life-threatening danger. However, his condition quickly deteriorated after the game and he was rushed to hospital, where doctors found that he had suffered internal injuries, including severe internal bleeding and a reported perforated bladder.
Despite surgeries, he later died from his injuries.
