A commuter train has collided with a tractor trailer in Ventura County, northwest of Los Angeles, leaving dozens of people injured.

A Metrolink Ventura County Line 102 train to Los Angeles collided with a tractor trailer in Oxnard, California, at 05:44 local time (13:44 GMT). Four train cars were derailed, and at least 30 people are reported to have been injured.

KTLA5 reports that emergency services found the truck already engulfed in flames when they reached the scene, but there are currently no reported fatalities.

The driver of the vehicle had fled the scene after the collision, but was soon located and brought into police custody.

Metrolink have said that the line between Oxnard and Camarillo will remain closed until the emergency services have finished their clean up and investigation.
