A suspect in the grizzly murder of Hervey Medellin, whose severed head was found by detectives near the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles in 2012, has been arrested.
Gabriel Campos-Martinez, 38, was arrested in San Antonio, Texas on Sunday for the murder of Medellin, 68, and is being held on $1 million bail pending an extradition hearing.
The two men were partners, and Campos-Martinez is alleged to have strangled Medellin after discovering that their relationship was coming to an end, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Medellin’s head was discovered by two women walking their dogs along a trail in Griffith Park on 17 January 2012.
Police organised a large-scale two-day search for the rest of Medellin’s body, but police dogs only managed to recover his hands and feet.
