An actor who played a dancing hamster in popular television adverts for Kia cars in the US has been charged with benefits fraud in California.
Leroy Barnes, 27, is accused of claiming $51,000 (£30,000) in workers compensation benefits in 2010-11 after a section of ceiling fell on him.
However, the California Department of Insurance says while claiming these benefits Barnes managed to play the dancing hamster in an advert and perform as a backup dancer for Madonna, Kelly Rowland and Chris Brown.
Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones said:
“Fraudulently collecting disability benefits is not only illegal, it disrespects legitimately injured Californians who are unable to work.”
Barnes was arrested last month on charges of fraud and has been released on bail.
