South Korean coastguard have released a video of captain and crew evacuating the Sewol ferry as it is capsizing after telling passengers to remain in their cabins and await further instructions.

Coastguard officials said that they urged those on board to abandon ship, but they did not enter the cabins or complete a thorough search of the ship before it sank.

More than 300 people, most of them students on a school trip, are either dead or still unaccounted for after the incident on 16 April.
