Jamaican dancehall pioneer Vybz Kartel, real name Adidja Palmer, has been sentenced to life in prison, with no consideration for parole for 35 years, for the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.
Last month, 38-year-old Palmer and three associates were found guilty of the gruesome murder after a 65-day trial.
Williams was lured to Palmer’s home to discuss two missing illegal hand guns before being killed, with an anonymous text message admitted as evidence at the trial claiming that his body was then chopped up into so many pieces taht his body would never be found.
Palmer’s lawyers have indicated that they will be appealing the verdict, citing data mismanagement and inconsistencies.
Vybz Kartel is one of Jamaica’s biggest music stars with chart-topping hits including Clarks, Ramping Shop and Summer Time, and starred in his own reality television show, Teacha’s Pet.
