A Canadian-born militant from the Islamic State (IS) has warned of a “brilliant attack” on New York, in an interview with VICE News.
A man who described himself as Somali-Canadian Abu Usamah Somali, also known as Farah Shirdon, explained that he was one of 10,000-15,000 foreign IS militants currently in Iraq fighting against the Peshmerga in Iraqi Kurdistan.
While he is fighting in the Middle East, he claimed that the Islamic State had supporters in cities across the West that could be mobilised if the US continues to interfere in IS operations in Iraq and Syria. he said:
“A lot of brother are mobilising in the west…for a brilliant attack”
He went on to describe the beheading of Western journalists and aid workers as retaliation for military aggression by the US and its allies, and warned
“Allah is on our side…Whatever regime attacks us, we will attack them”
The Canadian mocked the intelligence services of Canada and the US as incompetent and warned IS would continue its attacks on Westerners and threatened to fly the black flag of IS over the White House unless the US and its allies halts its military action in Iraq and Syria.
