A murder investigation has been launched after the decomposing corpse of the British tourist was found in a plastic bag in Delhi.

The victim has been named by local media as 40-year-old Andrew Roddick

His body discovered near Bhogal market in the Indian capital on Sunday morning, but he is understood to have been killed several days ago, with police finding evidence that his hands and feet may have been bound, according to the Independent

The large blue plastic bag was ignored for hours as people thought it was rubbish, but local shopkeeper N.K. Gupta eventually noticed the remains and alerted the authorities around 08.10 local time, according to the Times of India.

The body has been taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences mortuary, where authorities await a post-mortem examination.
