A series of coordinated attacks across Paris by militants affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) have left 129 people dead and more than 400 injured.

The attackers used AK-47s and suicide vests to cause carnage during a rock concert at Bataclan, at the Stade de France stadium during an international football match, and at a number of cafes and restaurants throughout the city.

Paris chief prosecutor Francois Molins said the attacks appear to have been carried out by “three coordinated teams” with allegiances to the Islamic State terror group in Iraq and Syria.

21:20 – 21:53 Suicide bombers at the Stade de France

Explosions outside the 80,000-capacity Stade de France during a France vs Germany football game marked the start to the attacks at around 21:20 (20:20 GMT).

A man wearing a suicide vest was prevented from entering the stadium after explosives were discovered in a routine security check, and blew himself up outside the stadium killing himself and a passer-by. This first bomber had a ticket to the game and likely planned to create a deadly stampede and push people out of the stadium towards the other suicide bombers waiting outside.

Three minutes after the first explosion a second suicide bomber blew himself up at a different entrance to the stadium and a third suicide bomber detonated his vest at a fast-food outlet near the stadium at 21:53.

21:25 – 21:30 Gun attack on Rue Alibert

In an apparently coordinated attack, gunmen arrived in a black SEAT car and opened fire with semi-automatic rifles at Le Carillon bar, 18 rue Alibert, a popular nightlife spot near to the Place de la Republique.

One of the gunmen then crossed the road and opened fire on those dining at the Le Petit Cambodge Cambodian restaurant.

The attack killed fifteen people and left at least 15 more seriously injured.

21:32 – 21:35 Gun attack on Rue de la Fontaine au Roi

Shortly after the attack on Rue Alibert, gunmen got out of a black SEAT car a few streets south outside the Cafe Bonne Biere and La Casa Nostra pizzeria in rue de la Fontaine au Roi and opened fire on diners enjoying an evening meal.

Five people were killed and eight were severely injured.

21:36 – 21:40 Gun attack in Rue de Charonne

A few minutes later gunmen, again seen in a black SEAT, arrived at La Belle Equipe bar in the rue de Charonne in the 11th district and opened fire.

Nineteen people died in the shooting, with a further nine in a critical condition.

21:40 Suicide bomb at Boulevard Voltaire

Shortly after the gun attacks, a suicide bomber detonated his vest at Le Comptoir Voltaire restaurant on the Boulevard Voltaire seriously injuring one person.

21:40 – 00:20 Bataclan concert hall attack

In the most deadly attack on the night three gunmen wearing suicide vests brought terror to the 1,500-seat Bataclan music venue on Boulevard Voltaire.

The gunmen were seen arriving in a black Volkswagen Polo and shot their way into the venue by the mainentrance during a performance by the Californian rock band Eagles of Death Metal.

They proceeded to open fire indiscriminately on the 1,500-person crowd with AK-47/Kalashnikov assault rifles.

The crowd initially thought the sound of gunfire was part of the stage show, but panic soon spread and those that could ran for the exits, into the backstage area, and onto the roof.

At around midnight the order was given for elite security forces to storm the venue.

An officer shot one of the attackers at 00:20, causing his suicide vest to detonate, and the two other attackers detonated their own suicide vests shortly afterwards.

The attack left 89 people dead and at least 100 critically injured.
